Interview Example

Interview Example

I have shot and edited my own interview/documentary, and it would have turned out okay, however, not great (I'm not going to lie, I wouldn't even rate it as "good"). Due to my lack of experience and the loss of my files, I am a few questions short. (Which I take responsability for - as "a good craftsman doesn't blame his tools").

Also the shots that I took weren't the best, the camera was out of focus, it is unsteady; I am generally unhappy with the work however, it is an excellent example of why I shouldn't create a recording for my coursework - without trying too pitiful.

Recreation Of A Product

Recreation Of A Product

For the task of recreating a product, I'll be using an insurance advertisement. The reason why I'm not doing a news paper is because the only ones that I could fin either weren't challenging enough, or they were far too complicated to follow.

I'll recreate this design using more than likely my bedroom or maybe a family member.

The reason why I chose this one is because it is an advertisment so, I realise that it is an unorthodox link, but and advertisment is somewhat a form of news, and that is my main task - a newspaper.

Second Ancillary Task Influence (1)

Ancillary Task Influence/Plans

For my second ancillary task I'll be creating a fictitious radio script and I may use this as an influence. However I probably won't be using a many voices, because to me, it seems too cluttered and I find it hard to follow.

Chrissie Hynde - Rock Star

Anthony Worral-Thompson - Celebrity Chef

James Naughtie - Presenter
James Naughtie
We have a star with us, we have Chrissie Hynde with us, a very committed vegetarian and very anxious to convince people that it’s the right course to take. Anthony Worrall-Thompson the chef and restaurateur is on the line – he takes a different view I think – he guzzles his meat with gusto. Now Chrissie Hynde, do you think against the background of this outbreak which is worrying people so much and the images they see, it is inevitable that people will make the kind of decision that you made?

Chrissie Hynde

I’m not that hopeful, I think it’s a good job that people are seeing that animals are being slaughtered. Those animals were going to the slaughterhouse anyway, it’s about time that people start to see what’s going on.

James Naughtie
Your own vegetarianism is as a result, is it, of your belief that you just think that animals shouldn’t be killed for food? It’s a principled stand like that?

Chrissie Hynde
Yes, it’s a principle and also you don’t need it, so why would you want to kill something if you don’t have to? It’s a very simple principle.

James Naughtie
Anthony Worrall-Thompson, you must feel that people are bound to be influenced, aren’t they, because they may eat meat at the moment, and prefer not to think of slaughterhouses and their grizzly business. But now, whether they like it or not, they’re seeing it on the TV screen. It’s going to change a lot of people’s minds, isn’t it?

Anthony Worrall-Thompson
Yes, of course it is. I don’t know if anything it’s going to drive more people into being a vegetarian but maybe more people will consider eating fish, which of course is vital to our diet and probably more important than meat. Unfortunately fish consumption has been dropping for many years apart from famine (?) and the recent scares about famine (?) make fish even in doubt. Whether that’s a good view as well – but what I think what we’ve always got to remember is that we’ve been eating meat ever since we were in the caves …

Ancillary Task Influences/Plans

Ancillary Task Influences/Plans

For my first ancillary task, I shall be creating a billboard, more than likely, I'll be creating one similar to the bus stop billboard, and as a back up option, I'll to "The Times". And as a very last resort/worst case scenario, I'll create a news vendor advertisement.

The bus stop billboard is my first choice, it has a simplistic colour pallet but it is effective in the way it can be noticed as "i", and it is eye catching enough to make you look. I also like how it the text has been inaugerated into the lettering. Another aspect that i find admirable about this design is that the layout is rather scarce but looks profesional; it's not clutered with infomation.

The wall billboard is a could idea, however it blends into the background and if I recreate this design it'll look professional, however it will be glazed over by the general public. The simplicity of the design above is admirable, however it is too dark, and if a white backgroud is used it will become dirty and need constant replacing; and that will cost the fictitious company that I'm creating too much money.

The news vendor is too simplistic, I'd much rather design a more complex design, don't get me wrong; I am normally the type to take the easier route, however this far too simplistic, it will be noticed that I'm  just being lazy and taking the option that needs the least effort.
The only reason why I have inclued this as an option, is so that it is known that I have covered all of my options.

The Journal, is not my first choice, however it does have a solid some what stereotypical and could be easily replicated and applied to my product.

Influential Example 1

Influential Example

I got the inspiration for my broadsheet from The Times Newspaper; in my opinion the layout is excellent as it has images of a celebrity, yet it doesn’t take attention away from the main headline. To me, that is the most important thing to do with the layout; yet another story that can relate to a wider audience.

Plan B

Plan B

My intentions are to create a broadsheet as I believe that news papers should contain solid facts and not rumours of which Kardashian sister is pregnant, or Paris Hilton's newest sex tape. However I've been told have a back up plan, so in the worst case scenario, I think, I'll create a catty, bitchy tabloid about the Sunderland/North East area.

I also need to take into consideration of if my files are lost or destroyed; I’d need to back up the files to flash drives, cyber space, etc.

Another aspect I’d need to think of is my  time management, since last year, everything was an unmotivated, paniced attempt as the deadline grew closer, I need to make a planner and keep to it, make my own deadlines etc. Hopefully this will help me with getting a better grade at the end of the year.

My schedule will posted as soon as I create it; which will hopefully be soon.
