Evaluation Question 1

Forms and Conventions

Narrative:
My product is in a journalistic style of narrative, because it is a newspaper, although I wrote the articles in the typical forms and conventions of a red top tabloid.

The Magic Bullet or Hypodermic Needle Theory of direct influence. The model is rooted in 1930s behaviourism and today it is typically rendered obsolete. A reason for this could be because it was said by Lowery & amp; De Fleur, in 1995, on  page 400 that people will be "uniformly controlled by their biologically based 'instincts' and that they react more or less uniformly to whatever 'stimuli' came along"; which could have been considered offensive.

The most famous incident often cited as an example for the Hypodermic Needle Model was the 1938 broadcast of The War of the Worlds and the subsequent reaction of widespread panic among its American mass audience.

The Hypodermic Needle Theory can be applied to my product through the examples of synergy I have integrated within my newspaper. I have wrote web address and included a QR code; and asked the readers for their valued opinion on the subject.

Mise-en-scene:
In all of my images, are from past events in my life bar a few. The images that i chose from my past, I chose because they fit the stories; most where shot in the Lake District (Cumbria) which fitted the family style of the generic tabloid format.

Layout:
I took inspiration from multiple generic tabloid templates and a few issues of The Sun and The Daily Star. One in particular I took ideas from, for my headline text block. (You can see the image in the "Updated Front Page" post. However I made the design my own but having more text in the boxes, having less images, and having no explicit image which is what these two inspirations are famed for.

Character/Model:
The models in my images are just posing for a holiday photos to look back on. These images where taken in past, not specifically for my product. Some images such as the hammer, was taken for the project.

Genre:
The genre of my product is a red top tabloid. The market is full with these papers, product has more outgoing, scandalous articles than that of the most papers, which I think will help my product get recognition within the news market.

My magazine, I have a similar layout to the daily star cover bellow, however  my cover is more PG than that of the piece below - the valentines model.
Also I have added the working class, fear of change, such as the children joining the armed forces, but like left hand side the, my story is more watered down, compared to the EDL article. Which is more right winged compared to the story I was trying to put fourth.
